Toledo

The view of Toledo was amazing. Just like the famous painting by El Greco except in daylight. I purchased some beautiful postcards. We got a tour of yet another Cathedral. The cathedral of Toledo to be exact. Was really over it at this point. The baroque and rococo (my absolute favorite word in Spanish) styles of ornate gold and marble. Also sick of seeing Jesus. I started thinking: What would Jesus think of how he is depicted in cathedrals? Would he be mortified to see such decadence dedicated to him? Seriously, why don’t people consider how the dead white men will feel about how they are immortalized (har, har, har) ? Once again we could not take pictures. There were several paintings by El Greco and I wanted to take a picture of the chorus area. There was a little section made of wood that had intricately carved representations of people. And some strange animal-esque faces. Believe me, El chupacabra was there.

We also saw one of El Greco’s most famous paintings, The burial of count Orgaz (see above picture). Was a bit dazed by this point in the tour so I don’t really remember it.
